Home to grazing meadows, wildflowers, woodlands, lakes and traditional farmyards, they make up the structure of the estate which is home to a myriad of businesses and opportunities.
Today, the estate supports a native herd of Hereford cattle alongside a pure-bred herd of Wagyu. Pasture for Life (PFL) certified, all our cows enjoy a 100% forage-based diet grazing the water meadows and herbal leys for much of the year.
Our pasture fed cows take longer to reach maturity and are finished from 28 months up to 5 years old for some of our Wagyu, resulting in a fuller flavour and richer marbling. Lower in saturated fat than grain-fed animals, PFL meat has higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids, minerals and vitamins A and E.
Conservation & Wildlife
Wildlife strips, game covers and winter feeding of farmland birds form the basis of our conservation scheme aimed at encouraging a healthy wildlife population. The estate has begun to revert its arable ground to stewardship and begun integrating livestock back onto fields.
Improving habitat
Winter bale grazing the cattle on the higher ground and rotationally grazing the water meadows to provide a patchwork of grass heights is improving the habitat for the wildlife.
